When Phoebe receives an alert via webhook, it automatically runs an investigation - generating cause hypotheses, supporting evidence, and recommended actions. Results are available in the Alerts table.

Configure webhooks

To enable Alert investigation, configure webhooks from your alerting systems to route alerts to Phoebe. See Alert webhooks for provider-specific setup instructions.

Slack notifications

You can receive Slack notifications when an investigation completes. Phoebe will post Slack messages with a synopsis of each alert with a link to the full investigation in the Alerts table. There are two options: Option 1: Dedicated notification channel
  1. Add @Phoebe Slack app to the channel
  2. When prompted, classify the channel as Other
  3. Run /phoebe notify alerts to receive all investigation notifications in this channel
Run /phoebe notify to view your current notification settings.
Option 2: Threaded replies to alert messages If your alerting system already posts to Slack (e.g. Datadog alerts posting to #datadog-alerts), Phoebe can reply directly in thread to those messages with investigation results. To set this up:
  1. Add @Phoebe Slack app to the alerts channel
  2. When prompted, classify the channel as Alerts
If Phoebe is already in the channel, run /phoebe categorise to change the channel type.
If Phoebe can’t find a matching Slack message to reply to and you have a channel configured with /phoebe notify alerts, Phoebe will post the alert synopsis there instead.
